Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka Passes On at 77

The nation of Ghana is mourning the loss of a remarkable innovator, industrialist, and spiritual leader, Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the age of 77. His death was confirmed by the Safo family and the Kristo Asafo Church, which he founded.

Apostle Safo, affectionately known as the “Star of Africa,” was more than a religious leader. He became a symbol of Ghanaian ingenuity, blending faith, science, and technology. Through the Kantanka Group, he pioneered locally manufactured vehicles, machinery, and various technological innovations, inspiring generations of Africans to believe in the continent’s potential for self-reliance.

Born in 1948, Apostle Safo devoted his life not only to ministry but also to championing African creativity. His inventions—including electric vehicles, agricultural machines, and military hardware—garnered global attention and placed Ghana on the map of technological advancement. He was celebrated as a visionary who dared to dream beyond limitations.

Beyond his groundbreaking work in technology, Apostle Safo was a philanthropist. He supported education, healthcare, and community development, touching countless lives through both his church and his foundation. His life’s mission was centered on uplifting others, especially the marginalized.

Tributes have poured in from across Ghana and beyond. Political leaders, business executives, and ordinary citizens have described his passing as a great loss to the nation and the African continent. His daughter, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, in a statement, urged the public to respect the family’s privacy during their period of mourning, assuring that funeral arrangements will be communicated in due course.

As the nation reflects on his life, Apostle Safo will be remembered as a trailblazer, man of faith, and tireless advocate for African innovation. His legacy lives on through the Kristo Asafo Church, his family, and the Kantanka brand, which continues to inspire young innovators.
