The seven newly confirmed Justices of the Supreme Court are set to be officially sworn into office today, Thursday, July 3, marking a significant development in the country’s judicial landscape.
The swearing-in ceremony is expected to take place at the Jubilee House, where President John Dramani Mahama will administer the oath of office to the incoming Justices.
Their appointments follow parliamentary approval and vetting earlier this year, in accordance with Article 144 of the 1992 Constitution.
The new Justices—who include seasoned judges from the Court of Appeal —are expected to bolster the capacity of the Supreme Court, especially as it prepares to handle a growing caseload involving constitutional interpretation, electoral matters, and complex civil and criminal appeals.
