“We Benefitted Together; You Can’t Remain Quiet…

In a sharp exchange of words following the defeat of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in a recent political contest, a key aide to the party’s regional chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako (commonly known as Wontumi), has targeted Miracles Aboagye, a political figure and media personality. The remarks, made by Wontumi’s aide, highlight the growing tensions within the NPP following a series of electoral setbacks.

During a radio interview, Wontumi’s aide accused Aboagye of failing to speak up in the wake of the party’s defeat, despite having been a significant beneficiary of the party’s political victories in the past. The aide questioned Aboagye’s silence, emphasizing that Aboagye had once been a vocal supporter of the party’s leadership during times of success and should now also be vocal during times of failure.

“We benefitted together,” the aide asserted, referring to the mutual gains enjoyed by party members during their time in power. “But now that the tables have turned and we face defeat, you can’t remain quiet. You cannot hide away and pretend as though nothing has happened. We all shared the glory, and now we must all share the responsibility.”

The comments suggest a fracture within the NPP, with insiders pointing fingers at one another as they process the repercussions of the defeat. While Wontumi’s camp calls for unity and accountability, some members of the party have been criticized for not publicly addressing the causes behind their electoral loss.

Miracles Aboagye, known for his influential role in the media and public relations for the NPP, has yet to respond to these accusations. However, his supporters argue that remaining silent is a tactic to allow the party to regroup and avoid escalating internal conflicts further.

This exchange between Wontumi’s aide and Aboagye reflects a broader pattern of public blame and internal infighting that has followed the NPP’s defeat. As the party struggles to reassert its position in the political landscape, the focus has shifted to the leadership’s ability to mend the fractures within its ranks and effectively strategize for future success.

The statement also underscores the challenges facing the NPP as it works to regain the trust of its supporters and position itself for the upcoming elections. Both unity and transparency will likely be key themes in the party’s efforts to restore its standing in the eyes of the electorate.
