Why didn’t you interview Ofori-Atta in the US as you did for Mahama’s brother? – NPP quizzes OSP

The National Organiser of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has criticised the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng for failing to go the extra mile to interview former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta, as he did in the Airbus scandal case.

“Kissi Agyebeng told us in August last year that he travelled all the way to the UK to interview Sam Mahama, John Mahama’s brother, in the Airbus scandal case. So, what stopped him from doing the same for the former minister?” he asked.
Mr Agyebeng had stated last year that, as part of his efforts to gather information on the Airbus scandal involving President John Mahama and his brother, he had travelled to the UK to interview the president’s brother.

On this basis, the NPP organizer popularly known as Nana B stressed, “Just as you travelled to the UK to interview Sam Mahama, what stopped you from doing the same for the former Finance Minister? What is so urgent that, if you could have waited two years before interviewing Sam Mahama in the Airbus case, you couldn’t wait a bit longer for Mr. Ofori-Atta?”

He was speaking during a press conference on Thursday, the day after Mr Ofori-Atta was declared a fugitive by the OSP for allegedly failing to present himself to be investigated in suspected corruption cases.

Nana B further stated that the OSP’s actions were unreasonable and that Mr. Ofori-Atta’s fugitive status was unjustified.
He assured the OSP that the former minister had no intention of evading the investigation and would return to the country once his medical treatment in the USA was completed.

Nana B also clarified that Mr. Ofori-Atta had informed both the OSP and the Chief of Staff at the Presidency before embarking on his medical trip to the USA.
