Ofori-Atta is traumatized, he’ll return… – Afenyo-Markin

The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has confirmed that former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will return to Ghana after completing his medical treatment abroad.

Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, February 13, Mr Afenyo-Markin said he had been in touch with Mr Ofori-Atta, who had assured him of his readiness to cooperate with any investigations upon his return.

“If there is anything against any past government official, due process must be followed, and I am sure all of us will have peace,” the Minority Leader said.
He also assured the President that the Minority would work with the government when necessary while fulfilling their duties as an opposition caucus.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin shared details of his recent conversation with Mr. Ofori-Atta, revealing that the former minister is troubled by accusations made against him.
“As of this morning, Ken Ofori-Atta informed me that he is traumatized by the labelling that has been ascribed to him, but he still knows that his God is with him. He is undergoing medical treatment,”
Mr. Afenyo-Markin said.
He added that he had spoken with the Chief of Staff, who confirmed that Mr. Ofori-Atta had officially informed him before leaving the country.

“I am confident that within a reasonable time, he will return. If there is anything that needs to be investigated, he will make himself available,” he assured.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin further stated that he would engage with the Office of the Special Prosecutor to ensure that any misunderstandings are cleared and that Mr. Ofori-Atta’s cooperation with investigations is guaranteed.
