Dr. Kwaku Oteng’s financial support for Kofi Adomah’s eye surgery revealed

In a recent disclosure, Vincent Opare, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Angel FM, detailed the substantial financial support provided by Dr. Kwaku Oteng, owner of the Angel Group of Companies, for the medical treatment of journalist Kofi Adomah Nwanwanii.

Kofi Adomah, a prominent broadcaster associated with Angel FM/TV and operator of Kofi TV, suffered severe eye injuries following an attack during his coverage of the Dormaa Kwafie Festival in Dormaa Ahenkro, Bono Region, in December.

The assault necessitated immediate and advanced medical interventions.

Addressing concerns about the company’s involvement in Adomah’s treatment, Opare revealed that the organization contributed approximately GH¢750,000 towards his medical expenses. This support included an initial GH¢110,000 to cover hospital bills and subsequent funding of $40,000 (approximately GH¢640,000) for specialized eye surgeries abroad.

Despite this significant financial assistance, Opare noted that the company had not yet received an official medical report detailing the expenses incurred. He emphasized the standard corporate procedure requiring such documentation for transparency and record-keeping.

Prior to these revelations, media personality Nana Yaa Brefo publicly urged Dr. Kwaku Oteng and other prominent figures to support Adomah’s medical needs, criticizing the perceived lack of substantial assistance.

However, the recent disclosures highlight Dr. Oteng’s considerable contributions towards the journalist’s recovery.

The incident involving Kofi Adomah has drawn widespread attention, leading to public appeals and fundraising efforts to support his medical journey. The substantial aid from Dr. Oteng underscores the solidarity within the media community and the commitment to the well-being of its members.

As of the latest updates, Adomah’s recovery is ongoing, with successful procedures performed in Dubai. His family remains hopeful for a full recovery, expressing gratitude for the support received from colleagues, the public, and notably, Dr. Kwaku Oteng.
